About Us

Welcome to Clehonger Primary – a small, rural maintained primary school just a few minutes outside Hereford. We are a warm, family-centred community with children across five class groups including an on-site pre-school.

Our Ethos, Vision and Values

Our mission is rooted in our Christian distinctiveness: “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” This inspires our strapline, Leading with Courage, Living with Love, and shapes everything we do.

  • Leading with Courage – we encourage children to be brave in their learning, to take responsibility and to act with integrity.
  • Living with Love – kindness, forgiveness and care guide how we treat one another across the whole school community.

These values are embedded in our curriculum, collective worship and everyday school life. Each term we focus on a key value and celebrate how children demonstrate it in the classroom, playground and wider community.

A Creative, Caring Learning Environment

At Clehonger Primary we offer:

  • An engaging and creative curriculum that nurtures intellectual, social, moral, physical and spiritual development.
  • Weekly enrichment activities to broaden interests and skills.
  • A highly motivated staff team who work closely with our ELSA Coordinator, Pastoral Lead, SENDCo, Governors, PTA and volunteers to support every child.
  • Small class sizes and close pupil–staff relationships that allow personalised support.

Pre-school and Early Years Transition

Our highly effective pre-school is an integral part of school life. We prioritise strong partnerships with parents to ensure a smooth transition into Reception.

  • Part-time and full-time places, with increasing numbers of 2-year-old children attending.
  • Since April 2025, expanded wraparound care for 2–3 year olds to support working families.
  • Transition activities and home–school communications that help children settle confidently into school routines.

Working with parents

We believe education is a partnership. Staff, leaders and governors welcome open communication and involvement from parents:

  • Regular newsletters and updates, celebration assemblies and termly parents’ meetings.
  • Opportunities to volunteer, join the PTA and take part in school events that demonstrate our values in practice.
  • Clear information on admissions and wraparound provision – contact the school office for current availability and application details.

To arrange a visit, find out about pre-school places or ask about wraparound care, please contact the school office. We’re always pleased to show prospective parents and children what life at Clehonger looks like.
