Welcome to Diamond Class

Welcome to Diamond Class!

The class teacher is Miss C Rudge

The support staff are Mrs J Gilbert and Mrs N Dillon

In our class we have the Reception children. Our classroom is always busy with a focus on child initiated, active and experiential learning. It is split into different areas which include:

  • Malleable area (for dough and other types of modelling and sensory play)
  • Maths area (with lots of resources for practical learning)
  • Funky fingers station (to help strengthen the muscles in our hands for writing)
  • Role play corner (where we can act out our experiences)
  • Small world tray (for lots of imaginative play)
  • Writing area (for lots of different types of mark making)
  • Construction area (for building with all different kinds of equipment)
  • Book corner (a quiet corner of the classroom which promotes a love of reading)
  • Creative area (with lots of free access resources to use independently)
  • Outdoor area (which includes sand and water trays, loose parts large scale construction, PE equipment and a writing shack)

Alongside all of these areas where we can develop our understanding through play and careful questioning and support from adults and our friends we also take part in some small group activities with adults each day. One morning / afternoon a week we enjoy taking our learning outside for Welly Walks which are invaluable for developing our communication and social skills!

PE Days

Our P.E. days this term are Tuesday and Thursday. Please make sure your child comes into school wearing their P.E. kit on these days.

Reading/Phonics Support

Encouraging and supporting your child with reading at home will help them to gain confidence. We would like to aim for every child to read aloud at home at least 3 times a week.
