Friday Afternoon Enrichment
At our school, Friday afternoons are something our children look forward to! Our Enrichment Programme gives children the opportunity to step away from the National Curriculum and immerse themselves in exciting, hands-on experiences that develop important life skills, build confidence and strengthen our school community.
Every child takes part in one of our four enrichment pathways: Forest Learning, Community Club, Healthy Schools, or Eco School. These sessions are designed to inspire curiosity, encourage teamwork and help our children develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.
One of the things that makes our Enrichment so special is that children work in their House Teams, meaning Reception children learn alongside Year 6 pupils, with older children supporting and encouraging their younger buddies. This creates wonderful opportunities for leadership, teamwork, friendship and a strong sense of belonging across our whole school family.
Forest Learning
Our Forest Learning sessions take children beyond the classroom and into the great outdoors. Whether exploring our school grounds, building shelters, identifying wildlife, creating natural art or learning practical outdoor skills, children develop resilience, independence and confidence through hands-on experiences in nature. Forest Learning encourages curiosity, problem-solving and a love of the natural world, helping children understand the importance of caring for the environment while enjoying the many wellbeing benefits of being outdoors.
Community Club
As a small village school, we are incredibly proud of the strong relationships we share with our local community. Community Club helps children discover more about the place they call home by getting involved in village life. They may meet local residents, visit community organisations, learn about local history, take part in projects, or help care for our local environment through activities such as litter picking in the village and at the local park. These experiences help children develop a sense of pride, responsibility and belonging while understanding the positive difference they can make to their community.
Healthy Schools
Healthy Schools is all about promoting healthy lifestyles in enjoyable and practical ways. Children take part in cooking and food preparation sessions, learn about balanced nutrition, explore where food comes from and discover how healthy choices can support both physical and mental wellbeing. These engaging activities encourage children to develop important life skills while building confidence in preparing simple, nutritious meals.
Eco School
Through our Eco School sessions, children become environmental champions, learning how they can help care for our planet now and in the future. They explore important issues such as climate change, biodiversity, recycling, reducing waste, conserving energy and protecting wildlife. By taking part in practical projects and environmental initiatives, children develop a sense of responsibility and understand that even small actions can make a big difference to the world around them.
Our Friday Enrichment afternoons reflect everything we value as a school: learning together, caring for one another, serving our community and developing the knowledge, skills and character that help every child flourish. They are a wonderful opportunity for children to discover new interests, build lasting friendships and create memories that extend far beyond the classroom.
